STANTONBURY CREATING A 21st CENTRY CAMPUS

Over the past months, they have been developing the broad basis of the redevelopment proposals and will shortly submit an outline planning application to Milton Keynes Council for the new local centre.
This approach provides flexibillity to deal with any issues that may arise through the planning process and the opportunity to fully involve the local community in the evolution of the plans.

There will be public exhibition held in the reception of the Leisure Centre at Stantonbury Campus on the following dates & times.

TUESDAY 3rd NOVEMBER - 5pm to 9pm
WEDNESDAY 4th NOVEMBER - 5pm to 9pm
SATURDAY 7th NOVEMBER - 5pm to 9pm

Do try and get along.

RESIDENTS RALLY & SAINSBURY'S WILL DELIVER

I had arranged to let folks know what was to happen to the shopping centre on Stantonbury but until Thursday I still had no information, but with the help of our MP Mark Lancaster and Councillor David Tunney Gt Linford North the 3 of us put the pressure on.
Residents from Bradville & Stantonbury came together with banners provided by Bradville Residents Association ( BRA )to let Sainsbury's know that we need to be kept informed and consulted on what is happening in our neighbourhood.

So for the GOOD NEWS the old Co-op store will be re-open later this month by Cost Cutters.
The Post Office will either stay in the store with Cost Cutters or be given one of the vacant units at the centre.

THANK YOU EVERONE FOR THE SUPPORT

THE CLOCK IS TICKING DOWN FOR RESIDENTS OF BRADVILLE & STANTONBURY

Saturday 12th September 2009 sees the closure of the Co-op store at Stantonbury Shops and with it the Post Office.
Since the beginning of June when I first heard that the store was to close I have been trying to make sure we are not left without a food store or Post Office.
Sainsbury's have tried to entice the Co-op to stay even offering them a rent free lease but with no luck.
The Post Office have posted a Branch Temporary Closure notice and I quote from an e mail I have received from them

" I can assure you that we will continue to work to find a solution that will provide a Post Office presence in the community of Stantonbury. "

This would depend on another retailer offering them a bit of space in there store.

So where does this leave the resident who rely on this centre.

Well and truly up the creek.

I have asked Sainsbury's to re open the store with a mini Sainsbury's and a Post Office as this is what the residents want and NEED.
Surly this would not be too difficult for a large company like Sainsbury
I am arranging to meet with folks at the Stantonbury Shops on
SATURDAY 12th SEPTEMBER at 9.30am
and may be I will be able to let them know what is going to happen.

Co-Op CLOSING @ STANTONBURY SHOPS

We are all very concerned to hear the Co-Op store including the Post Office has said they will be closing on 12th September.

I am trying to make sure we keep a Food Store and Post Office on the site and to keep you all up to date with how things are going here is the copy of the letter I have received from Sainsbury's.

Dear Barbara

First, my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to you. I am sorry that I did not get in touch sooner.

I have been checking with Sainsbury's and we were not aware that the Co-op had formally decided to vacate its premises.

I understand that Sainsbury's and the Co-op's agent had been in discussions about extending the Co-op's lease and that Sainsbury's was awaiting the Co-op's final decision on the length of the required extension period. Therefore, their decision to vacate the premises whilst no firm plans for the regeneration of the centre was in place was unexpected.

To keep you updated, I am aware that Sainsbury's has been having an ongoing dialogue with all of the existing centre tenants regarding their continued occupancies.

Sainsbury's wants to ensure that there is a continued food shopping provision in place at the local centre. Given the unexpected decision by the Co-op, we need a little time to work up plans for a replacement offer and I will come back to you with an update on that as quickly as I can.

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in toch should you wish to discuss any aspect of this.

Yours sincerely

Marie Twomey

A YEAR AS YOUR CONSERVITIVE WARD COUNCILLOR

I have been here for a year now so I thought it time to look back over this year and sum up what I have been doing on your behalf.

The largest amount of concerns that have come to me have been over the grass cutting not being done last summer and the hedges overgrown.
These where all taken care of after an e-mail to landscaping, although there are still a few areas that have been missed.

The amount of rats being seen at the Stantonbury shops, and areas near the shops.
This is being dealt with now by the removal of a lot of the shrubs and the areas being seeded with grass.

A lot of my time has been spent in Stantonbury and after several public meetings with the aim of trying to get a voice for the area and set up a residents association, it was fantastic to see the RAFS up and running. They will be having the first annual general meeting in June.

I have also been working with the Bradville Residents Association ( BRA ) this is a more experienced residents association and is very able to deal with every day problems, but I am pleased to say I have been able to assisted them with some of the issues that had been unresolved.

Bancroft, Bancroft Park & Blue Bridge ( the 3 B's ) have had some issues over planning apps that I have had to look at to make sure all is right for everyone
There are also worries over more and more houses being put up for rentals and the properties being over crowded, which then bring problems with excess rubbish and parking.

I am now keeping a close eye on the Stantonbury Park Farm Development.
The outline planning was for around 500 homes however they have planning for around 580 I think we would all agree that is nearer to 600
A large board has been put up now with the name OAKRIDGE which is getting everyone confused.
I have been in contact and this is only the name being used by the developers and it will still have the Stantonbury name.

The HIGH LIGHT to my year as your Ward Councillor has got to be putting together the
STANTOBURY SPRING CLEAN
On a very wet Thursday 16th April 24 residents including children and 19 from agencies and organisations meet at Woodend School and at 10.30am we set off and swarmed across the whole of Stantonbury we even got our MP Mark Lancaster to come and help. I would like to thank everyone who helped.

HERE WE SNOW AGAIN !!!!!!

Snow in Stantonbury Ward like other parts of the UK has made life FUN FOR THE CHILDREN with some amazing Snowmen the best one I have seen in my travels is at the end of Mercers Drive ( Monks Way ) with 2 green leaf eyes stick arms and an enormous smile.

However for our older and more unstable residents it is nothing to smile about with an every present risk of SLIPPING and falling so please take care.

I have received an e-mail from the council advising that we only have enough grit to last the weekend and the suppliers can not say if they will be able to get us any for next week ( 9th February ) so again everyone take care.
and as if things where not bad enough the Waste Collection has also been suspended.

But now for some GOOD NEWS, SERCO have been awarded the new Waste Collection contract and from what I have been told it sounds a much better deal for us in MK.
You will be receiving information on the new service which is due to start in March
but just to let you know your collection day will stay the same.
